I strive to have a diverse lab. We need to maintain multiple voices and perspectives in science and we have a safe place to science. Since I have the privilege of starting my lab I have have published on diversity issues facing students and teachers in STEM classrooms, , along with my student, have written about the role of gender diversity in professional societies and how digitizing museum collections can help decolonize the academy. Additionally, along with Jacquelyn Gill at U Maine and Kathleen Treseder at University of California, Irvine, I am spearheading an initiative to curate best practices to reduce sexual violence in the field in conjunction with the Ecological Society of America.
I welcome potential students regardless of race, religion, gender identification, sexual orientation, age, or disability status. As long as you are a creative thinker who is respectful to others, you are welcome here.
That being said, if you are a Red Sox fan, you might have some trouble.
